One of the most memorable episodes of The Simpsons is undoubtedly "Homer At The Bat", if you remember, in it Burns bets 1 million dollars that the team at his nuclear plant can beat the team at the Shelbyville plant. To achieve this, he hires Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey Jr., Steve Sax, Ozzie Smith, Darryl Strawberry, Jose Canseco, Mike Scoscia and of course Don Mattingly.
Mattingly shortly begins to hear it from Burns insisting over and over again that he must trim his sideburns, but Mattingly never ends up understanding which sideburns he was referring to.
There are several theories about what he could've been referring to, but the two most accurate so far are:
1.- That Burns was actually referring to Mattingly's mustache.
2- That it simply was a satire of George Steinbrenner, who owned the New York Yankees for many years and was known for making very insane demands of his players.
Personally... The second one seems more feasible, but just to clear up any doubts, does anyone have Matt Groening's phone number?
